A Day in Honor of Sergeant John Dunckhorst
WHEREAS, Sergeant John Dunckhorst began his more than 26-year law enforcement career in October of 1999 as a patrol officer with the Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol; and
WHEREAS, from 2005 - 2008, Sergeant Dunckhorst transferred into the NHP Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) in the Central Command area; and
WHEREAS, in January of 2010, Sergeant Dunckhorst transferred to the Investigation Division as a Detective in the Tri-DENT Narcotic Task Force; and
WHEREAS, in February of 2015, Sergeant Dunckhorst was promoted to the rank of Sergeant for the Investigation Division which he served until his day of retirement; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of all Nevadans, we extend to Sergeant Dunckhorst our sincere thanks and gratitude for his more than 26 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, we honor and commend Sergeant John Dunckhorst for his commitment, outstanding service, and lasting contributions to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Nevada. We especially recognize his heartfelt dedication to the Nevada State Police, where he maintained professional excellence and loyal service and upheld dignity and respect in every assignment;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2026, as a day in honor of
